Episode 1: from freight delivery to setup
Josh Falcon has spent more than a decade around outdoor kitchens, built-in grills and full bar setups, and he is documenting his own build on The Falcon Eats. Episode 1 of his Outdoor Kitchen Build Series covers the part most people wonder about before they order: the freight delivery, unpacking the BBQ island and getting it set up.

What to plan before the truck arrives
From our side of the delivery, a few things make day one easier:
- A clear path. Measure gates, turns and steps between the curb and the patio. Island packages arrive by freight truck.
- Utilities in place. Gas, power and water lines should be planned before the island lands, so the cut-outs line up with them.
- Hands and tools. Plan help for moving sections into place, and keep the paperwork with your order number for each piece.
If you are still choosing a layout, our cabinet islands and complete outdoor kitchen packages are the place to start. The Alamo 10 foot package and the Dallas 14 foot package both include a gas and charcoal hybrid grill.

Picking the countertop
The counter is the part guests touch and see the most. Josh filmed himself picking the granite for his new kitchen build.

Whatever stone you choose, bring your island drawings and the cut-out sizes of every drop-in grill, burner and sink. Sunstone drop-in grills, burners and sinks list their cut-out in the specifications on each product page.
Plan it with us
Josh also offers an outdoor kitchen planning guide on The Falcon Eats. When you are ready to lay out your own island, our free design service and the design tools will help you place the grill, storage and cold zone before you order.
